So you'd like to hire me as your photographer. I am honoured! Here is a quick run down of how it all works, as well as some answers to frequently asked questions. See you at the shoot!

Photos are meant to be printed and displayed.  We are all proud of our families. Printing and displaying photos for you and your guests to see is the ultimate compliment and demonstration of love and affection.

Most sessions feature your complete gallery of selected images presented to you in slideshow to your favourite background music. These pictures are of your family and I want the energy and the emotion of the evening to last forever! 

These aren't just digital files on a disc, or prints to maybe get framed once that hallway wall finally gets painted. These are archives of your life, love, and littles; generational heirlooms for tomorrow and the best excuse to spend a day lovin' on your family today. 

Frequently Asked Questions

WHO ARE MY CLIENTS? 

Not everybody, and that's okay! My clients are typically those who go with the flow and let the session happen. They don't ask the kiddos to sit still, smile, and say "cheese!" They trust in the beauty of their routine of the everyday and that it's worth documenting and archiving for decades to come. They love those heart-stopping images of their 'lil babe in a highchair - Cheerios rolling onto the floor, or their toddler jumping on the bed, and the ones of Mom or Dad tying shoe laces while sitting on the kitchen floor as we head outside.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT OUR SESSION? 

FUN and RECONNECTING with loved ones.  I want our session to be memorable, a time to embrace your loved ones, to feel relaxed, to glow, reconnect with family and to build new bonds. Your session should start with at home before we even meet. Everyone getting ready together like they are heading to a big event, a little giddy and excited about what to wear, how to do hair, what shoes to put on. 

Adult siblings might go for a glass of wine before or after our shoot.  Many head out for a night on the town as they look and feel great.  You were the centre of attention; a model for the shoot.  This was all about your and your family and you are proud to have taken this time together. 

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? 

Be comfy, classic, casual, and timeless! Personally, I love white shirts and jeans. If you want to spruce it up, maybe go with a nice floral dress for women, and some khakis for men. Ultimately the photoshoot is about you and your family, so go with something that makes sense for who you are.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH BIRTHDAYS OR EVENTS WITH CAKE SMASHING? 

I LOVE birthdays! They can double as a family photo shoot where we can get really great candid shots. The bonus is that we are getting shots of Grandma or little cousin Billie in these shoots and they look awesome! I love cake smashes too. The reactions and interactions are hard to simulate and these offer really interesting photo opportunities.

I started doing more candid work such as family events, birthdays, Christmases and more, and capturing the smiles, the hugs, the laughter that are not drummed up by the photographer. I find that these sorts photos are usually that much more authentic and natural than something that is posed. 

WHEN ARE PHOTOS TYPICALLY READY? 

Your photos will be ready and available within 2 weeks of our session. After the session, we can sit down, play your slideshow and choose the images you wish to print and frame.

DO YOU TRAVEL? 

I sure do! I accept commissions throughout Western Canada. If you want to buy me a ticket, I'm usually game for going anywhere! 

CAN WE PRINT OUR PHOTOGRAPHY SHOTS?

Of course! That being said, we recommend ordering prints through the studio if you intend to display them as art. The prints we provide are of the highest quality of professional printing and framing. Multiple gift prints are great for our local printer. I frame the images and have them ready to hang on your wall and share with friends and family for a lifetime.

HOW MUCH ARE MY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS?

The cost of my sessions is based on a base session fee and the number chosen images.  We start at $100 for the shoot and work our way up, depending on how many images you wish to purchase. All shoots come with a charge access to your images online at screen resolution and slideshow set to music.

WHAT ABOUT WEATHER OR IT'S STORMING? 

No problem! We know about acts of god and understand that sometimes these things happen. We are guided by natural lighting conditions and if there is none then we just reschedule. Period. No mess, no fuss! I have had some clients that have rescheduled 4 times with me. No biggie!

MY HOUSE IS PROBABLY THE WORST TO PHOTOGRAPH IN! WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

We know every house has its good and bad. That's what makes a photo session sincere. We have a way of working everything around and can beautify any mess. When we said it was honest photography, we meant it. Plus, I am a dad too. Even with our genuine assurance that I can find interesting parts of your home that are photogenic, we can always venture outside or pick an alternative location. Choosing a locale is about understanding the type of session you're after. Whether it's playing at the park or in your front yard, biking, playing basketball, or capturing your family all snuggled together on a couch for movie night we promise you sincere candid moments!
